I am fairly sure they are referring to the length of the hand-guard. The lightwieght version uses a lighter weight barrel. The M4 has a shorter hand-guard than the mid-length...

The first two are midlength gas systems, which is what you want with a 16" barrel. midlengths are more reliable and durable.

As for the barrel, with milspec 4150 steel, you can go lightweight unless your shooting full auto. those are likely 4140 steel, in which case rapid fire in semi auto can cause a little expansion and you will lose some accuracy. Not a huge issue, but something to consider.

I'd stick with the first option.

I've heard and read mostly good things about Loki. I am not one to jump on brand new companies' bandwagon. I like to let other do beta/torture testing.

That said, looking at the specs, it looks like an ok deal. If I were in the market for a SS barrel, I'd be looking at 410 SS, over 416/419 (that one claims both). There is no mention of HPT or MPI testing on the barrel, so it's safe to assume it wasn't tested. That's the difference between a high end company and a middle to lower end company.

BCM has some 410 SS barrels in that same price range that I would check out before pulling the trigger.
