I get it, there's better alternatives. But I know one of you baws has a setup for short yardage on hogs or deer. Post a pic!

Wolf makes a 200 grain soft-point 7.62x54r loading for the Mosin. That would kill the shite out of anything you’d be hunting.

Use Hornady steel cased amax.

Ballistics wise it will do same thing a 300 black out super sonic will. Scope mount may be a challenge unless you planning on using iron sights.

I don’t use one to hunt... I’ve used one to kill a hog we caught in a pen Bc it’s what we had with us at the time.

One of the biggest understatements in OB history

I have a PSA ks47 10.5” pistol that i wouldn’t hesitate to use. Or just a standard AK if it’s accurate enough.

My buddy build a semi-auto 1919 from an Israeli parts kit. Loaded and linked up 10 rounds of .308 ballistic tip. Game warden told him "It's not explicitly illegal, but come on, Man."
Out of respect for him, he never used it on a deer.

I hear they are great for Taliban season.
in all seriousness, wouldn't they be too much gun for deer on "short yardage"?

It's not much different than a 30-30 I would imagine.

its no different than any/most other 7MM+ standard rounds at 50 yards or so.

Since they are very similar, what about using an sks for hunting?

SKS is the finest tool available for hog hunting.
i have two...ones a beater norinco that i shoot all the time, and the other is a mint condition yugo that use less often because its in such pristine shape
add some tech sights to an SKS and you have the ultimate hog killer
as an added bonus, the bayonet can be useful as a last resort

I bought a yugo sks a few years back with the bullpup stock modification. It's got a pretty nice scope on it but i've only ever just taken it to the range. Was always curious how it would do hunting.
You say a great hog gun, what about deer?

Can it hang with a 6.5 Creedmoor?
