Has anyone replaced this style

with this style of QD socket on their hunting rifle?

Grovtec has some on Amazon that screw in, use those if it's a solid fiberglass stock.

I installed some on a manners stock a while back. Pretty simple, drill a hole and in weld them in place.

I didn't swap any out, but I installed some on a rifle with a wood stock. Mine have a different style base than the one in your pic. The base on mine is just a cup with a single screw hole in the bottom of the cup. So all I had to do was drill a hole the same diameter as the cup and then a pilot hole in the bottom of the cup hole. That way the top of the cup is slightly above flush with the wood. I really like it.

my QD slings are way more comfortable than a traditional rifle sling.

Those look badass. I just got a QD sling for my AR and I would love to put one on my deer rifle just because I like to take my sling off while I'm in the stand so it doesn't get caught on anything or make any extra unnecessary noise when I move my gun.

I have the ones in the OP and just unscrew them when I get in the stand. Takes 15 secs.

Agree. It takes about 10 sec longer to remove the uncle mikes than the push button.

Yes, only need to tap if you bought the threaded inserts.
