Anyone In Louisiana Fly-fish Anymore?
When I was a kid we used a fly-rod and a chartreuse Accardo poppin' bug to fish the bayous for Bream, Goggle-Eye, Perch, and any other fish hiding beside a big cypress tree.
I personally haven't fly-fished in years and haven't seen many doing so. Any of you out there fly-fishing?

I bought a fly rod last yr and still haven't taken it out yet. That changes next week. But, I've been buying flies throughout the yr.

Religiously, there is not a inch of bank along the Tickfaw, Blood River system that I have not dropped a Accardo size 10 chartreuse bug.

Just started last year. Going after bass, bream, carp, etc. around NWLA and will be going to Arkansas and Broken Bow for trout.

Keep one at our camp on Bruin. I've cast crickets under trees and usually catch something. My MIL has fought bass with it under the cypress

I don’t use a fly rod to inshore fish anymore.

I love my fiberglass 4wr for bream popping bugs and some dry fly fishing around lake Verret area for bream.

They do have clubs throughout the state.
Laflyfish.com has a lot of hard core fly fishing guys on there.

I’ve fly fished a bit over the years, but nothing serious. My son, on the other hand, went all in as a young teen. He’s really good. I raised him hunting and fishing and it’s turned out great so far.

As someone mentioned, check out www.laflyfish.com and check the Calendar page. Lots of stuff going on fly fishing related across the state and region. The forum got whacked a few months back so it's just newer posts but there's a ton of discussion on Facebook.

Cabelas, Bass Pro, Marsh and Bayou, Olde Towne, Orvis, Pack and Paddle, Gray Wolf - all sell fly fishing tackle. Also some rods and flies at PAC Kayak Rentals. Some at Academy but not much.

According to industry analysts, fly fishing has been growing nationwide the last 6 years especially among ages 18-30. Much of the tackle sales is trout, saltwater and bass / pike / carp. Bream fishing is still popular but it's not what's driving the sport.

I used to fly fish, but just don't have passion for it like I do pitching top water baits and jigging plastics. I totally get it why some people love it though. To each their own.
