Would be a daily driver. Trying to see if I’ll regret bumping up to a 2500/250

You will definitely need to upgrade truck nutz...
Other than that the ride will probably not be as smooth.

A little. I don’t really need the 2500 diesel and everything about it more expensive. Tires, fuel, DEF pump replacement, fuel filters, etc.
I did get a great deal though. So I can’t complain too much. I only need it to tow my boat that I never use.

Only thing that sucks is paying for it.

1/2 ton is all you really need....
The F250 I had was too much, and needed a 3 acre field to make a U-turn.

Buddy of mine had one and he was always bitching about store parking lots being made for smaller vehicles. Turning radius, length, width, etc. made parking in some lots a bit harder.
Also like already mentioned, maintenance, upkeep, tires, etc. will set you back even more than that 150.
I recently bought new tires for my Silverado and that set me back over $800 out the door. Hate to see what tires for a larger truck would cost.

If you spend much time in the city you will regret it.
I'm going back down next time and I hardly drive mine in town
Then new 3/4 tons are like driving a tank plus you don't save fuel wise, maintenance and parts are more expensive and if its a diesel you will eventually have to delete the emissions system or spend a bunch of money fixing it

From a guy who's daily driven a F350, and now a F250, for around 15 years now I'll say if you don't actually need one, don't buy one. At one point I needed one, but that hasn't been an actual necessity for me for about the last 5ish years. Even still, it's paid off and I haven't convinced myself to downgrade yet, I even considered a Tacoma at one point. We will likely park it within the next year, keep it for truck stuff, and buy myself something to daily drive to work/errands/etc.
It rides rougher, its harder to park, everything cost more. Tires are easily $1000+, an oil change will run over $100, fuel filters also over $100, higher cost of diesel vs gas, DEF. Even the normal wear & tear items cost more. My '12 has about 155,000 miles so I'm in the process of refreshing suspension components. All new ball joints, new tie rod ends, track bar ball joint, all new hubs/bearings, I'm doing all the work myself and I'm still about $2000 in parts alone.

35 x 12.5 x 20 are $350-$500 a piece....

Not at all. When all the gasoline drivers were fretting on where they were gonna get gas, I had no issue getting my diesel. My 2000 4WD F150 got about the same gas mileage as my dad's 2003 C2500 Duramax. My 2019 Duramax is actually a little better.

OH HELL NO. Don't need no truck like that.

Is it the size of the truck y’all wouldn’t want to do over, or the headaches of modern diesels?
I’m really interested in a 3/4 gas truck. Same sticker as a similarly equipped half ton and it’s there when you need it.

Mine has been relatively trouble free. I had the common intercooler cold side pipe failure, replaced under warranty, then replaced it myself with the metal replacement. Then when my DEF system started acting up I could either replace it for $900 or delete the truck for around $1200, I deleted and have been running that was for about 80000 miles with no other issues. For ~155,000 miles and nearing 10 years of ownership I'd consider that pretty decent. Everything else has just been wear and tear items over the years, but again those parts typically cost more than the same parts in a half ton.
I think it's just the size, lack of maneuverability, rough ride, and cost of repairs that I've grown tired of. I don't think the gas option would really solve any of these issues other than cheaper oil changes and lower fuel cost.

One of you guys looking to downsize sell me your 3/4 ton! I have to borrow or pay someone to move my camper, and my boat could use a bigger tow vehicle too

What do you tow that needs a 3/4 ton truck?
If you don't have an answer get a 1/2 ton, they are HUGE these days and can tow the vast majority of what individuals need to tow, and they are way more comfortable to drive.
On the gas vs diesel issue that always comes up, diesel is no longer cheaper, now longer more reliable (thanks EPA) and they don't last any longer than gas engines. Diesels didn't suddenly start lasting a shorter amount of time, gas engines just developed longevity over the past couple of decades that brings them up to diesel longevity timelines.

I have a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton. If I could only keep one, it would be the 3/4 ton.
I'm traveling with a full bed, a full cab and a quad and a side by side on an 18 ft trailer and getting 15 mpg. Plus the exhaust brake is so helpful. Plus it pulls my 36 ft 5th wheel camper with ease.
