Have you found a higher capacity Magazine for it?

I have found 25 round magazines for the A-.17,but not the A-22.

Admittedly, I don't own either gun in question. OTOH, I've bought both a Savage 17 HMR bolt gun and a Savage 17 Mach 2 bolt gun. In the bolt guns, the 22 Mag and 17 HMR mage as the same mag; the same holds true in that the 22 LR and 17 M2 mags are the same. Makes me wonder if the A17 HMR and A22 Mag use the same magazine.

You are correct about the Mags on the bolt guns, they interchange. I have a handful of these rifles.

The A-22s and A-17s have a rotary type magazine, and I am afraid it might not work exactly the same way on those.
Am considering just buying an A-17 mag,and seeing if it will work. Its less than 30 bucks, and I might be able to modify it if needed.

And how do you like That .17 Mach 2 ? I have never shot one. It's got to be flatter shooting than a .22 LR,but more fricked up in a breeze?
Somebody said that it damages small game much less?

Have only shot 10 rounds through it today, after I put the scope on it.
I used the CCI a-22 ammo, and it's going to be a tack driver.

The magazine was a little aggrivating, you have to pop the hell out of it to get it to seat properly, but it's brand new, probably just needs to be broken in.

i have had one for years. Dont get one, cant find ammo. They only do one run a year. I have about 10 boxes put up, but have not seen any on the shelf in prob over 7 years or so.

I knew that it's not so plentiful.

If it's a great round though,and it's useful,availability might increase,if more people try it?

You can find mach2. Once the hoarding mindset got its fill, and CCI got caught up on other rimfire production, it started showing up especially on mail order sites. I also see it at gun shows, but for higher prices.
It's a great cartridge and very accurate. My 77/17 will put five on a dime at fifty yards.
You want to shoot game animals in the head.
They will kill a coyote within reasonable distance.

I've got a Savage 93F in .22WMR. I picked up a pair of 10 round mags from midway. The 10 round mags are the only mags i've seen other than the 5 round standard

The round has been around since 2004, i got my rifle the same year. Its not caught on, which is why lack of ammo.

If you have seen it in stores in the past 5-7years you are lucky. The only time i did is last year, the store told me they do one ammo run a yr, and their store only got 20boxes...Gunbroker has it at prices 2x what it should cost. It used to be $7 a box. Now everything you see is $14-$20 a box for a glorified 22lr. Dont get me wrong, i like the round, its fun. But the lack of ammo + the cost of ammo if you can find it at gunbroker is just too much to justify it.

$6.95/box or $67.90/brick. 841 boxes and 40 bricks available.
SGAmmo.com
UPS shipping is a minimum of $12 but that will get you around 12 pounds worth, $28 for 60-66 pounds.

Before wasting $30, I'd send an email to Savage.

I really like the 17M2 for what I use it for: tree squirrel hunting, either still hunting or w/ a dog. I bought it because I was impressed by the results of my cousin and his 17M2. Indeed, it's much flatter shooting than the 22 LR and not much more destructive on body shots than the 22 LR. The 17 HMR is too destructive on body/head shots w/ squirrels, although I've read of some who say it's ok if using FJM ammo. Yes, both 17's are messed up by the wind, but I've not noticed it as a problem hunting tree squirrels. When I first bought my 17M2 I went on a ground squirrel hunt in NE CA and had to fight the wind at times.

I understand your frustration. I have nearly a lifetime supply of 17M2 ammo left over from a ground squirrel and other infrequent purchases. Unfortunately, there's no competition in the 17 rimfire market as CCI makes ALL the 17 rimfie ammo made in the US and Eley in the UK no longer makes it. I found some boxes locally the winter 2016, the first I'd seen in a year. CCI must've just made a production run. I got an email notification for some from Midsouth Shooter's Supply recently, but now it's out of stock. Natchez Shooter's Supply has it in stock, though.
