I have neglected my casting arsenal due to fascination with UL spinning. Time to toss a few and get some new stuff. Are there closeouts coming?

Tackle warehouse almost always does a Labor Day weekend sale, 15-20% in the past with specific stuff marked down farther.

Major brands like shimano and Daiwa officially are excluded because of MAP restrictions but they have a wink and a nod message on the front page that you should give them a call. G Loomis is under shimano and will let dealers knock 30% off sticker, just not advertise it, so never hurts to ask.

Academy will probably do something, could always check and see if the mettle is marked down.

I've picked up quite a few deals in their clearance section. Sometimes the closeout deals aren't really that great, but I got a Lew's Tournament Pro for 60% off not too long ago.

Call Shelton's in Alabama. They have great deals on reels. I fish mainly Shimano and I have been buying all of my Chronarch's from them. Their price can't be beat, even online.

Ebay can be sketchy when buying new products, especially those marked down. I've bought several reels on there but if it's too good to be true then it probably is, gotta really pay attention to the seller and not just jump on the lowest price.

Never had an issue. Just check the buyer reviews of seller.

I always do, this was a long-term scam involving credit card fraud. Seller had hundreds of positive reviews, because stuff was cheap and showed up quick. I ended up being fine because I had protection through my CC, but if I had paid with a debit card or paypal I would have been SOL. Issues didn't present until 4 months after the purchase.

Just have to look close at the long term history of the seller, not rating and overall feedback number. Guy had tons of positive reviews because his stuff was cheap, they were just all under 3 months old and I didn't catch it. He was advertising new reels on ebay for $10-15 below everyone else, using a stolen credit card to order them online from bass pro, and shipping them as gifts to the buyer. 4 months later bass pro was tracking me down telling me I owed them $100 and was gonna send me to collections if I didn't pay. My CC company handled it all, but in the mean time Ebay told me I was past the window of them giving a shite.

Admit I should have paid more attention, but this was an "outdoors store" in Missouri with 99% positive feedback when I ordered. I keep calling him a guy because he had been, in broken english, cussing and threatening to fight people who had left negative feedback once they figured out what happened. Can laugh about it now, but at the time it was a major pain in the arse.

Not saying ebay isn't a great place to buy reels, I buy tons of stuff there and the coupons are awesome, but you do have to use common sense.

I bought almost every reel I own off of eBay. Usually when they have a 15% -20% off sale.
