I bought one for Junior to play around in the summer. What kind of chemicals do I need for this thing to keep it from looking like the basin?

I don't have one, but I'll be interested to hear what others have to say. I saw Academy has/had a 14' Intex on sale for $200 and we were thinking about getting one

Yeah Baw. Good for little ones or for me to post up in after some yard work.

My wife bought an 18' round one on clearance about 2 years ago for $149. All I put in it is a bag of shock once a week during the summer and this thing. I run my pump over night and change the filter once or twice a week. It stays clear year round. Before I vacuum I make a whirlpool to get all the trash to the middle, makes it easier to vacuum.

ETA; forgot to mention, about every 3 week I take the copper rod out the ionizer and brush it with the wire brush, wear gloves when you do this.

I bought a cheap arse 13' ring top intex pool. I've had it a month or so. I just keep a chlorine float in it and don't have any problems. Water is always perfect. Run the pump a couple hours a day if I remember and use a Scooba to vacuum up the floor.

I think it was $80 to the door and it's great. It's trashy as hell, but it's perfect for a few cold ones after cutting grass or firing up the pit.

We bought a smaller one with an integrated pump several years ago. I think the bottom was 8 feet and the top around 6-7 feet.

You inflate the ring at the top and fill it with water. The water makes the ring rise up. I had to add water about once a week. We ran the pump/filter for maybe an hour each afternoon and it helped to keep it clean. I put chlorine tablets in the filter whenever I added water. It never got bad looking, just a little cloudy after a rain. I have a lower deck at the house we put it on. Got to be more trouble after a while so I got a shorter one since my son was 2 at the time.

I had one. Make sure you run the pump for AT LEAST an hour a day. Keep the chlorine pod in it and full whenever you're not in there.

And if you haven't set it up already make sure you have a level spot for it.

My old lady bought one, set it up in back yard under a bunch of water oaks. I got so pissed at taking out leaves, I took a branch and punctured the side of the pool and told the old lady it fell like that.

My kids loved it. The wife convinced her mom to get a pool, now the wife and kids go swim there and I have no maintenance to do. I just jump in the bayou after I cut the grass.

I bought a skimmer that sucks up all the bugs and leaves when the pump is on, and I also use the skimmer basket to disperse my chlorine tablets. All I do is make sure a tablet is always in the basket, and that keeps everything just right. I run the pump 12 hours a day.

I can't answer your question, but I have a 21' round pool, 10K gallons, and would assume a smaller pool would require the same chemicals as a larger pool, just adjusted quantities.

Get this:

Test Strips
Clorox Unscented
Borax
Baking Soda

Get your FC / PH right using the strips. Should be good to go there.

Very nice. You'll need a suckered type device for the bottom.

Make sure you buy one that will work with that pumps shitty flow rate.

Put up one for the grandson as I did last summer.

To clean the bottom, I use a piece of 1" pex tubing that I just tape into the suction of the pump line and pass it along the bottom.

On a hot day 3 years ago I got a 13' x 33" Intex at Walmart for like $80. It was great for 2 years until I just decided to trash it. It was taking up too much space and I didn't want my dog to jump in it while I was not home.

The pump with mine was terrible and it required at least twice a week maintenance.

It was well worth it for the few post yard work/gym dips though.
