Advice on truck

Hey everyone,
Long time lurker, but finally getting around to making my first post. Looking for opinions on which truck to buy. Currently looking at a Ford F150 and Chevy Silverado between the 2006 to 2009 model ranges. Researched both a lot, but have never owned either and am looking for owner recommendations.
ETA mileage on both will be under 100,000, closer to 80,000.

Welcome. Your going to get as many opinions as posters here but here is my take:
I've got an 06 GMC 3500 with 328,000 miles on it. Wife has a Chevy suburban with 283,000 miles on it. We drive the shite out of our GM products and are extremely pleased. Had a Ford that couldn't hold a candle to my GMs. Take it for what it is.

I think the Ford 5.4 motor is pretty crappy in those years. They improved it, but not until 2010. (I had one, a 2006 KR.)
The GM's in those years have rock-solid drivetrains, but front hubs are pretty weak, as are door handles and power lock assemblies.

Tailgate handles usually fall off
I have an 04 2500 6.0, and other than the usual replacing joints (New Orleans) and shite, the drive train has given me zero problems. Have had to replace all of the window regulators/motors, but that's about it IIRC

For gm the 06 and 07 classic half ton the weak point was the transmission. 07 08 and 09 had a problem with losing compression in the motor due to cylinder deactivation. I know as already posted the 5.4 is real sluggish but don't keep up with the ford problems as much.

I think either will be a good truck. I would shop around for both, go test drive them, see which you like better and what's the best deal you can get. If you can find one with a service history that's a plus. Good luck

Can't go wrong with either. The only issue with the 5.4 v8 of those years was the spark plugs. If you find an '08 it shouldn't be an issue.
I would add the Tundra to your list. After owning nothing but F-150's and F-250's for the last 11 years, I changed it up and bought a 2012 Tundra. I am still a die-hard Ford guy but I am loving this Toyota.

Cam phasers. Get that diesel engine sound without the added expense

For reliability and resale value nothing touches a Toyota. If you want a GM or Ford, they are very similar. Go with whichever one you find that you like the most.

04-06 go GM.
08-09 go Ford.
08-09 go Ford.
