We plant cow peas, very good results around McComb. Also known as deer ice cream! Goes to about 1-1.5' tall then the deer now it down!

Anyone have a good rec for a spring food plot for an 1/4 acre opening in mature hardwoods? Was wondering if there were any good perennials out there that are low maintenance.

Good to know. I am going look at a place about 10 miles from McComb this Saturday. How is the deer herd in that area of the state? Looks to be a decent amount of woods around the area.

productsforwildlifemanagement.com. They have some great products. It is the same place no colors is talking about. Get a soil sample before you plant.

Where in South Ga? From your name I figured near Griffin. I'm in S Ga as well and we have about 100 acres.

I'm from Mississippi but we are moving to be closer to my wife's family. It's not too far from Albany. Where are you at?

I'm in Tylertown east of mccomb, been heavily managing 2400 acres for two years very pleased with results so far. Have healthy heard and let a lot of nice 2.5 & 3.5's go this year so excited to see what next year brings.

We lucked out on our place as we have a managed pine plantation with a lot of hardwoods, be Leary of the place if strictly pine and if not timber managed as your huntable acreage and carrying capacity of land will be a lot less. I.e. Mature pine with no browse or young pine too thick to walk through to hunt.
