looking for suggestions/recommendations on a high quality rifle scope to add to my 7mm. I have ~$800 budget (mostly bc of accumulated gift cards) and I'd like a 50mm diameter scope.

A few in mind:
Vortez Viper PST Gen II 5-25X50
Zeiss Conquest HD5 3-15X50
Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x50

FFP, my one complaint actually. When zoomed all the way down to 5 I can barely see the cross hairs.

ETA: The lowest I go is like 10x anyway, most the time Im all the way up to 25x.

The illumination is also nice, I keep it in between 6 and 7 so 1 click lights me up nice and crisp but not too bright

Unofficial sponsor of the OB. I grabbed the 3-15x44 for the grendel. I am not sure if the others offer, but the zero stop is pretty useful.

I bought a leupold VX5hd 3-15x44

Haven't played with it too much but the little I have, I have been impressed.

Found it on sale on Optics Planet for very close to your budget.

I have a Nikon Pro Staff. Went to bass pro ready to buy a VX3 and the salesman talked me out of it. Said the pro staff was clearer. Thought he was on crack. He took me outside with both scopes and I left there with the Pro Staff.

I really like that on my scope that I splurged on. Sometimes I have a hard time seeing the crosshairs depending on the ambient light and the background. The dot takes out the guess work.

I bought a VX3I 4.5 x 14 x 50mm with a side focus, Boone & Crockett reticle, and a 30mm tube for $749. Whatever scope you choose get a 30mm tube for that range.

The viper pst is more than $800.

Is this a hunting rifle or is it going to live on a bench?

Dont know if this is sarcasm or not, but Bushnell has some really awesome scopes out now for reasonable prices.

No, I was absolutely serious.

Guys that buy that latest and greatest still can't outdo a Bushnell.

I won this gun in a raffle fundraiser and want to set it up with some nice glass. It’s a Browning X-bolt eclipse 7mm.
I will hunt with it maybe 4 times a year, in situations where I could have a long shot. I plan to practice a lot with it. I will be attending an annual trip to New Mexico for Elk/pronghorn and get invited to Texas hill country trips occasionally . I shoot a 35 wheelen or a Matthews switchback in the palmetto jungles of Louisiana where/when I typically hunt.
