We caught about 30 really nice fish out of Cocodrie on Saturday morning. Had to work pretty hard for them, though. The best part is that all the fish came on topwater baits.

Topwater Trout... the guys by you weren't fishing out of an old crappy looking bay boat near Whiskey Pass were they?

We went out of Hopedale Saturday. Ended up with 65 keepers. 4 or 5 of them over 3 lbs. and a few bull reds.

Caught the big ones near Central rig, then got on a hot spot at the long rocks about 1 pm. we put 30-40 in the box in about 30 minutes. We would have finished up our limits, but had to leave for weigh in.

He doesn't let much get to him, that's for sure.

Thinking about hitting the rocks on Memorial Day. Are the long rocks at the end of MRGO on the west side? I have only fished the short rocks or what I believe are the short rocks (along the east side).

What he left out is that that conundrums dad (who was on the island) the one in the 24 Cape Horn that towed them to the island. Had 2 tents, a tailgate tent, fans, and more food and water than they could finish.

Yeah, hit the west side toward the end. Best spots tend to be on the inside of the rocks near the cuts. You will either be on the fish, or watching the boat next to you tear them up.

I guess I should clarify... on the west end of Last Island near Whiskey Pass. We caught our fish about 30 yards (don't think I was potlicking) from a boat that wasn't catching any. Just want to apologize if it was a fellow OBer. I know it had to be frustrating.

We were on the backside of the island. All the people killing them were wade fishing. I learned a lesson...always bring a stringer ont he boat.

Were you watching me sling em in my Mako?

ETA: never mind--saw your clarification. I wouldn't have had that potlicking around me.

Yeah I've been seeing a lot of wade fishers the last few times out. I was anchored up in 3' of water on the beach, and watched some guy catch 15 while wading 50 yards from my boat.
