2001 Yukon XL. Original engine, rebuilt tranny at 250K.

Other than the "cruise" indicator light burning out this week, not a single electrical issue.

Will GMC give me a hat or shirt?

You've got to get to 1,000,000 for a free truck.

BTW...change your oil.

Where did you find a wiring harness to put a dodge engine in a Yukon XL body?

Yeah right, pre-AFM they had a chance in cracking the list. The GM 4.8's are better in that department and even then the pre-VCT Toyota 4.7L and the 2-valve Ford 4.6/5.4 V8's can go 400K easily. Older Vortec 5.7's are rock solid as are the 1990's Dodge LA 318's. My fiancee's '04 5.3L Silverado has only needed an alternator and a water pump with 120+k on the clock. Would love to pull that engine out and put it into a new Silverado someday.

I'm more partial to the ford straight six. But the 5.3 is top 3 on any given day

You didnt mention that Ford 5.4 Triton did you Clames? That may be worst motor ever made.

Had a 2000 Silverado with 5.3 thing was flawless, congrats on the quest for a million miles OP.

Other than the "cruise" indicator going out, the fuel gauge jumps from time to time but that's just the sending unit in the pump.

Every other light works, even the ones on the buttons on the doors. Heated seats and mirrors work, power seats no problem. Headliner does sag in a couple spots so I just hit them with a staple gun.

Burns a bit of oil every 3K miles or so. I use Mobil One Synthetic. I looked at engine last night and remembered I did change the throttle body when the controller went out a couple years ago. No oil leaks on exterior of engine.

He is talking about a pre-AFM engine, and didn’t come out until 2008 or so.

It's 400k miles.

It isn't an Aisin trans, I'll give it a pass.

The 2V 5.4 is absolutely reliable, don't confuse it with the 3V version which can be likened to AFM GM V8's. Companies have made generator sets and pumps using the 2V 5.4 and 6.8 V10, not LS engines, due to their inherent reliability.

Exactly. Tow companies still bitch about Ford stopping production of the V-10.

5.3L wouldn't even be in my top 3 GM V8 engines.
