Someone downvoted, but I have to agree.

Everything I've ever come across with ballistics says HP is iffy at best, at .380 and below. Lower power rd plus shorter barrel, you're unlikely to get expansion and acceptable penetration. You'd be paying extra for the increased risk of fail to feed.

Clames- I generally hadn't shot a lot of Federal, I do assume it's 'good'. I know looking lower cal (.32 acp), you were better served looking at Fiocchi and other European manufacturers, they tend to be hotter. And I know from experience that's the case with 9x19 fmj too.

Any word on their .380? Fiocchi or S&B still considered hotter than American rds?

I’ve carried both. Reliability shouldn’t be an issue in a decent .380, and worse case your hollow-point acts like ball and doesn’t expand. .380 isn’t ideal but when I need to pocket carry that’s the ticket, and the under-power concerns aren’t a big deal in the south IMO. I might look for another solution if I lived in Minnesota where people are wearing multiple layers when it’s cold.

I was carrying a Sig P230 for a while but some pretty bad jamming issues with HP had me putting it back in the safe. Might just switch to ball

Yeah I have FMJ in 38spl for when I carry the snubnose. I figure what the hell, it oughta be good enough for self defense in a belly gun. Plus I havent come across any HP anyway.
