I dont own one but I love the caliber. Its what .308 should have been to begin with IMO

That said, it will have limited ammo availability forever. Unless the military adopts it for some reason I dont see it ever becoming mainstream.

I really would like a AR10 in 338 Federal.

There is a new rifle round coming out soon. It’s an 8.6 creedmoor which is a .338 caliber.

I really don’t know anything about the .338 fed. Just know about that a new cartridge is coming out.

Is it going to be the same case dimensions as the 338F? Because the 6.5CM uses the 308 as a parent case and so does the 338F. The 6.5 is just necked down and the 338 is just necked up 308. My google fu brings up nothing.

The 6.5cm isn’t quiet the same as the .308 necked down. That’s the .260

It’s very close but the 6.5 cm has a slightly larger diameter at the shoulder. The parent case is the failed .30 tc.

From what I saw from Q testing it, they say that it will be like .300blk's big brother in that you can run subs and supers well. I don't think many are running subs with .338 federal.

Basically. Supers should run close to .338 federal. Subs should just be a larger diameter, harder hitting .300blk.

Which was based off the 308.

I'm assuming Creedmore is a company? Their business model is genius.

Either way, if it duplicated the .338 federal it'll be a good performer. Now we just need a .338-06 creedmore

Nothing wrong with a .338 Federal, but it just hasn’t caught on. Ammo may be hard to find.

What is this new cartridge? The market isn't begging for a big brother to a very niche close range sub round, 300BLK. A super heavy bullet traveling subsonic is going to have shite ballistics. I don't see the appeal from an agency, military, enthusiast or casual shooters perspective.

Oh, I don't disagree, I was just stating it's purpose. 6.5 Grendel honestly seems like the best choice for anything in the AR15 platform right now even in SBRs.
