I built a 300 pistol a couple years ago and never had an issue with it. I’ve used it with subsonic rds and a suppressor. I’ve also used it without the suppressor and just the stock flash hider. Never had problems.

The other day I came across some hogs and grabbed it with neither the suppressor or flash hider on it and it had trouble cycling. Would the lack of brake/suppressor cause it to cycle different or do I just need to clean it up real good and try again?

Most of the short guns using subs need a suppressor to increase pressure to run correctly.

I would be surprised that the brake adds that much more backpressure but yes the suppressor absolutely makes a difference for cycling.

It could just be a case of dirty gun and light subsonic rounds

clean it.

And make sure you take to BCG apart and clean it really well.

Do you think this would help with jamming issues with an AR10? First time at the range a week ago I got a few stovepipes. Went hog hunting this weekend and same issue. After the first magazine I ran 2 more through it and never had a jam. Maybe it just needed to be broken in? For being a fairly cheap build it shoots well. Dropped two of these at about 250 yards.

Do you mean failure to eject when you say stovepipe?

if it was brand new, did you clean it before you shot it?

No. But i did shoot him in the leg on the first shot. That's when I was fighting a jam.

yes and yes. But possibly didn't clean/oil it well enough.

That can definitely cause some issues.

I have a pistol build (I built it) that was failing to eject. Finally decided the gas port in the barrel was too small. Took it apart and drilled it out and it runs like a champ now.

Damn ok thanks. This is a Stoner complete uppder with a DPMS lower. Just quickly cleaned and oiled it before the range then didn't touch it after sighting it in. I'll have to break it down now and finally clean it good.

you do know how to take the BCG down, right?

If not, no biggie. It's easy to do.

Since this is my first AR i spent some time playing with the upper taking it apart before I got the lower a few months later. I think this BCG that came with it is pretty cheap so it probably needs to be upgraded, but i'll just go with it for now. Already finding things I like and don't like.

If you were using subsonics when the gun failed to cycle properly, yes that could be from not using the suppressor. Using the suppressor will add some pressure to assist in cyleing action. I don't think the presence of absence of the flash hider should be a factor. Regardless, a good cleaning (as long as it's done PROPERLY) is always a good idea for a gun.

What ammo are you guys running when you have your problems?
