When I could get it, I'd use CCI mini-mags.They were 40 grain; 1235 FPS.

My question is, what are the considerations in buying .22 ammo? I saw some 36 grain, for example.

What significance do grain and FPS have?

higher the grain.. heavier the bullet..you will never tell any difference in 40 or 36 grain IMO

Thanks. With the shortage I'm looking for other available ammo so was wondering what I if needed to be careful of. Not very versed with rifles/bullets. Grew up hunting a lot and shooting shotguns aplenty but not much shooting rifles.

Barely any difference in 36/40 grain. Buy what you can find at a good price

That is outrageous.

I won't buy anything over $4 per 50.

Was back in January of this year. Wish I would've bought more than I did.

Difference is weight is due to the hollowpoint.

Hollowpoint = 36gr.
Solid = 40gr.
