Launched from Lacombe. Hit the bridge at 8:30. Bite was very slow and had to move around a bunch and try a bunch of colors, jighead weighs and techniques. Finally figured them out 2 hours later and got in a consistent bite trolling the pilings in a half a mile section on the south side. There were over 100 boats on the bridge when we got there and didnt witness much being caught. When we got on em most of the Armada had left.

Got a 2 man limit of trout, 3 flounder and one 19" red. Got back at the landing at 3.

Blue moon colored swim shad on 3/8oz jighead were the ticket that day.

Trestle fishing is tough. It's never the same, day to day. Hell, hour to hour. They can be up against the pilings one moment and then 50 yards out the next. Up-current, down-current... Want live/fresh or will take artificial. Most people aren't patient enough to try many different techniques, presentations or colors and leave frustrated. Good job, OP, on waiting them out.

As for me, I've had marginal luck fishing the bridges. Caught half a 2 man limit of reds under the new I-10 bridges once. Caught a few really nice specks on the south end of the trestles once. And had an awesome day when we figured out a pattern on the south end of the Hwy 11 bridge once. Other than those 3 trips, I've left skunked and frustrated every other time I tried the bridges.

If you're going to go, bring everything you have and more(live/fresh) and be prepared to change presentations, patterns and techniques all day!

yep. Spot on. Takes patience and knowing the right weather and water conditions to even try the bridges. I live in Denham Springs and my fishing buddy and I have spent the last decade figuring that lake out . It's a difficult area for sure, always changing. We launched out of Lacombe and on the way to the trestles we could see the water clarity changing. Hell, the water clarity changed from the north side of the bridge to the south and a few times in between. You can't just post up on any part of those bridges and expect to catch. Just like the causeway when it's on.

We found clear water, moving water and those fishing birds were all over the area diving so we knew there was bait present. Just had to figure out the bite and presentation.
