Yes she is a Russian. What is the point of testing if the athlete is gonna be cleared to compete and not stripped of their medals. If russia can dope so should the rest of us. Where is Tanya harding when you need her ?

And I believe they also made the decision to not award any medals to anyone during her arbitration in events she participates in. Which is unconscionable. Other Olympians who have worked hard and are clean will be robbed of their Olympic moment because the IOC is kissing Russia’s arse.

Wow. That’s terrible. No medals awarded? So to “save her the mental anguish” they rob everyone else and add mental anguish because they can’t even celebrate a medal win? It’s been said already that athletes awarded after the fact after Sochi didn’t have the connection to the medal anymore because they didn’t experience it in the moment.

This is why the Olympics have been and are becoming even more of a joke around the world. Between Russia continuously cheating their arse off and flaunting it everyones face, and getting away with it as well. And to these Olympics being in China in the first place, the Olympics have lost their prestige.And it shows in the ratings. No one cares about the Olympics anymore. The IOC is a joke and a farce and has ruined the Olympics for the forseeable future. Its a shame too because the athletes, clean athletes, deserve better

this really is one of the shittiest sports things ever. "We can't hurt her feelings since she is only 15, so if she doped she can still compete but no one else can win a medal"

I'll take it further...if she tested positive before the Olympics, why was she ever competing in the first place? Sha'Carri Richardson tested positive for THC and wasn't allowed to compete, so why were things different here. IIRC, Valieva's positive test was from December.

Tara and Johnny were very well reasoned. This ruling is an abomination. It doesn't matter if it was two months ago and now she's clean. The drugs helped her train harder for longer. Whether theyvwere her idea or not is irrelevant.

I don't think they are not awarding medals. Just not having any medal ceremonies in which the 15 year old finishes in the top 3.

And then there is the fact that the Olympics have been a split NBC/IOC production. I hate the mouse owning so many sports broadcasting rights but the last great Olympics were broadcast by ABC (summer) and CBS (winter). It's a shame that millennials only know of the NBCfied Olympic Games.
