Wasn’t he doping? Or am I thinking of someone else?

The most impressive sprints I’ve ever seen were Usain Bolt. I’ve never seen someone just crush everyone so easily. You could tell it wasn’t shite for him to run faster than anyone in history. In fact, it sucks we never really saw him just put his head down and try 100% to do his best/fastest and set a mark out there that may never be reached.

Michael Johnson doping? What? He’s never been accused

Gatlin and Montgomery were. I’m not sure if Burrell has. Bolt absolutely has been alleged by some then you have Blake and others in Jamaican Sprints getting stripped

We’ve seen Gatlin beat Bolt so we’ve seen Bolt go full go before. We also have seen Bolt false start

I couldn’t remember if Johnson was in the doping shite or not. That’s why I asked. I’m not accusing him of anything.

That was Ben Johnson from Canada caught doping. Carl Lewis got the gold after Johnson was stripped.

I was there to watch him in a preliminary 200m race. We had seats in the curve higher up, but it was fairly empty. My brother and I went closer. It was amazing to watch him cruise by in those gold cleats. To me, I just saw a blur of gold where his feet should’ve been.

He gave away his shoes after every few races to refresh the spikes. He gave them to a kid 6’ away from me. I did get to give him a five.

Of the top ten 200M times ever only Bolt and Johnson have never been accused of doping. Blake was busted right after his 2nd fastest 200M time and shouldn't be acknowledged but he still is. Go figure. There's really only Bolt and Johnson at 200M all time.

BTW...Bolt buried himself on his 100M record. He went balls to the wall and didn't let up. It's now a 12 year old record and no immediate threats are in sight. Going to take another freak like Bolt to challenge that 9.58. He owns 5 of the top 10 best times and 8 of the top 15 ever. By comparison, today's wining time in Tokyo doesn't even rank top 20 all time.

1996 was "peak America" at the Olympics, IMHO. Basically, we did as well as almost any 2 other nations combined.

Mostly patriotic, America-loving kids on those teams was a given then and seemingly a luxury today.

I remember that as well, so awesome to see him run. Who was the white guy behind him at Baylor? Jeremy something? Did he make the Olympics?

I have a friend that was on the women’s track team at Baylor at the same time and says nothing but nice things about him.

I know that. I'm saying that I would like to have seen him, in his prime, put his head down and just roll. Just to see what kind of bar he could've put up for everyone else to try to reach. It seems like he was always coasting or showboating or whatever. Which, don't get me wrong, he's the best ever so he earned that. Watching him do something as simple as run was completely awesome to watch.

He set 9.58 at the world championships in Berlin in 2009, and he didn't let up or showboat on the 9.58 record run. He gave it everything he had in what was his prime. I don't know why this myth exists that he never had a race where he didn't showboat.

His time in Beijing might have been better than 9.58 had he sprinted through the line.

Regarding Johnson, I was in the stadium with my parents for an earlier session that day. Saw Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Dan/Dave compete. Later in the day scalpers were asking $300 for tickets to the night session. We didn’t go.

When you see the shot at :03, I am sitting in the second row of the upper deck directly under the light bank as you look at it.

An amazing night in that stadium for sure.
