Just got back from a Covid vacation today. I was out 10 days since my son tested positive. Our company does not pay for time off due to quarantine, so I checked with our secretary this morning and was told I was being docked 7 PTO days, one of them being Labor Day (a company observed holiday where no one worked).

I called HR and was fed some BS that I wasn’t an eligible employee if that were a normal work day. It didn’t matter that the entire company was given the day off as an observed holiday.

The man always has the upper hand. I dictate my workload, so I’ll get my time back one way or another. Just had to vent.

So you aren't a full time employee or something? What's the reason you aren't eligible for holiday pay? Maybe I'm not understanding the post. If you normally are eligible for holiday pay, than quit immediately, that's bs. I wouldnt expect many companies to pay you for quarantine time at this point though, pto being used is pretty standard.

Not quite sure how you could have pto and not be eligible for holiday pay, so im probably not reading this right.

I left before noon one day because of a family emergency. My employer at the time took a vacation day from me even though I still worked over 40 hours that week. Said it was because I left before noon.

I’m a full time employee with over 12 years with the company. I was not an eligible employee bc I was under quarantine for close contact with a positive covid case.

All employees get paid holiday pay regardless of standing with the company or time served, but they claimed this was standard procedure. I asked where was this procedure documented and haven’t seen anything yet.

Yep. I work the company-wide standard 10-hr shift, but on federal holidays I only get 8 hours of holiday pay.

That doesn't make sense. I would look for a new job immediately and not give them 2 weeks when I quit.

Your son wouldn’t have gotten covid and you wouldn’t have had to quarantine if you never got him tested.

My son had to test bc his gf’s mom is a teacher at the school and listed him as being in close contact with them.

Ohhhh and no pics. Lol

Come to think of it, I should’ve made him refuse the test.
