I don't know how really, but the hipsters have and spend mountains of cash on the brands/causes they think are in. While the baws moved on to RTIC and Ozark Trail.
Sport fisherman are Yeti's real bread and butter, and I don't know if those guys care all that much about this.

This.
When you have millions of politically active members, your message will get out.

I mean, I can respect people with a nuanced difference of opinion.
But he is just a blithering simpleton who for some reason has this elevated sense of self, with absolutely zero reason for it.
He couldn’t think his way out of a paper bag if it had instructions printed on the inside.

Austin, while it’s more liberal than the rest of Texas, you and other posters make it out to be San Fran or some town in Oregon. It’s still pretty representative of Texas
The only ultra liberal company I like is based there.... And that's no coincidence.

Here’s what I bet happened.
Some Ivy League liberal east coast marketing hire thought it would be good to distance themselves from the NRA because Austin people live in a bubble.
So they made some snide little announcement. The truth of it inconsequential, it EXPLODED in their faces and this is the statement they came up with to try and do damage control.
Yeti hasn’t made any public comments or announcements whatsoever. They aren’t virtue signaling. The NRA is who drug this out publicly and put them on blast.

i live on the outskirts of Austin and that is not a true statement at all. you could say it's representative of SA, Houston, or DFW, but the other 90% of the state lives, votes, and behaves very differently. not saying it in a negative way, but i do about 30k miles of driving throughout Texas every year for work and Austin is a different town entirely for better or worse.

From YETI: “Truth is, we did not cut ties with the NRA or the Friends of the NRA. We changed the structure of our discount program to better align it with the business. I’m not happy that the NRA would choose to mischaracterize and sensationalize this. Know that we do support the Second Amendment, gun owners and their pursuits. Please stick to these talking points publically and feel free to point out your own experience with our brand and people. See below: As you know, YETI was built on a passion for the outdoors and, as we always have, YETI continues to actively support hunters, anglers, and the broader outdoor community. We believe in the Second Amendment and the Constitution of the United States. Recently, we made a number of business, pricing and dealer decisions to simplify and clarify our product distribution. Based upon these, we ended a wide range of legacy vendor programs, which affected a number of different organizations. The conclusion of these programs in no way impacts our ongoing support of our consumers’ passions, as YETI continues to work with many organizations that promote the conservation and management of wildlife and habitat restoration.”

No worries, we likely hung out with different crowds in different places so my view of the city might be different

They're making a political statement to their own detriment.
But are they? I know it appears that way on the surface but I have seen nothing official from the company. Given they put off their IPO I would not be surprised that this was merely corporate belt-tightening as a result of increased pressure from the copycats which from the outside appears to be an existential crisis for them.
I said this two days ago and it may indeed be the case. If it is the case and it was communicated as a business decision to the NRA it is disingenuous for them to frame it any other way.

What I gather from the little reading that I've done and that Yeti is not making near the money they used to and decided to cut or scale back their discount program to the NRA, friends of the NRA, and several other groups. Now some folks are mad that they can't get cheap Yeti's and the NRA couldn't waste a chance to play the pity party and get more of their loyalist fired up, so they used this as a PR move. It's worked well.
I support the NRA, but this was a BS move to me.

Huh?
I was just showing what Yeti has said since this started. I didn’t say anything about a point being made or not.

Huh?
Many have said something like this:
"Yeti hired some ultra liberal Ivy League douche who decided to use his personal views to market YETI against guns!!!"
And it was met by upvoted and reposts
The poster simply pointed out Yeti actually hasn't made a single public campaign or marketing message against guns at all.
