WWL Radio: Crime watchdog group: New Orleans is leading nation in murders per capita

WWL Radio
The head of a local crime watchdog group told Tommy Tucker Wednesday that so far this year, roughly 33% of shooting victims in New Orleans end up dying. That rate in in New Orleans last year was about 25%.
Rafael Goyeneche is the executive director of the Metropolitan Crime Commission. Goyeneche attributes the increasing number of fatal shootings to the firepower being used.
if the 33% number is correct does that mean we add 77 more people onto the homicide rates or is the NOPD factoring those numbers in?

I love that city, but if you can leave it now is the time. It is beyond saving now.

I'm so confused by this map. Assuming the colors are coordinated to the municipal districts; the districts don't match where the actual districts are located. (On top of that we switched to lettered districts a while back.)

Is he saying the thugs are no longer using Hi Point 9mm? What, they’re all using 10mm or rifles now? bullshite.

6/27/2021 - 107 Murders
6/27/2022 - 149 Murders
That's a blistering pace.

All those legal guns the criminals have. We need longer wait times and stronger back ground checks…..

This makes me think some shootings aren’t being recorded.

I wonder if the move of Charity Hospital to oblivion has anything to do with this?
Charity was such a short drive for a fair number of gunshot wounds to be taken for treatment. I'd expect some cars could almost drive themselves there.
The increased mortality almost implies that the doctors aren't as good whereever they're taking the bodies now compared to last year. But, heck, those doctors are getting more practice each month.
Or has someone stopped calling fatal gunshots to the liver something other than liver failure?

Safe to say that Destroya has surpassed Sidney Barthelemy, Moon Landrieu, et al. for worst mayor in the City's history.

Isn’t University Hospital just a block or so away from old Big Charity? Isn’t it still a Level 1 trauma center?
I don’t understand your point.
