He should do jail time over this.

The police report, which summarizes allegations leveled by WWL’s Senior Vice President Kevin Cassidy and attorneys for the station’s corporate parent, Entercom, suggested law enforcement was still working to corroborate the station’s allegations. For now, police have classified the case as a possible extortion, which Louisiana law defines, in part, as “the communication of threats to another with the intention (to) obtain anything of value.”
The crime is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The title was misleading. WWL figured it out with their own forensics team. NOPD didn't do anything but note it in the police report.

Exactly. WWL would be setting themselves up to be sued into oblivion.

It's hard to imagine them going public without iron clad forensic evidence here.
WWL hasn't gone public
this was a public records request by NOLA.com for a police report

If Chad's passed out from bating too much to thoughts of Morestead, admin must change the title.
This can be the story of the year for the nola area.

WWL filed a police report. This is public record so nola.com requested it and published the info. WWL didn't set themselves up for anything.

I mean, their lawyers know setting all that out in a formal police report is effectively "going public."

They won't be liable if they're wrong just because they filed a police report.
In any case, they hired a forensics team and have substantial evidence that Dunlap sent it himself. This being my favorite:
quote:
The report released Thursday notes surveillance footage showed Dunlap was in his office with the door closed at the time the tweet was sent. He opened the door soon after its publication and then walked out to show his cellphone to a co-worker, “apparently talking about the tweet.”

ummm... no?
they're going to the police b/c the station feels like its the victim of an extortion attempt by Dunlap and wants him prosecuted
NOPD had to release the record when NOLA.com made the public records request

I thought it odd when WWL didn't fire someone over it. The people who do their social media don't make squat and are replaceable.
Once that didn't come it it was either a Jussie or a higher up who did it.

Somebody get this story to Tucker.
He loves exposing fake hate.
And we need to yell "it's proven fake" just as loudly as the original claim. I can't stand when this happens and it just gets forgotten about. Smollett got his charges dropped which was BS.

If he wants to pay his debts off, he needs to go find him a sugar daddy. Case closed.
