Would Your Wife Drive This? 2023 Hyundai Palisade

I think the styling is a bit much, but Hyundai has definitely figured out the correct formula for success in this segment. These things have been hard to get even before the microprocessor shortages.

Hyundai on Wednesday unveiled the 2023 Palisade at the New York Auto Show. While the Palisade was already on the blocky side of things, the refresh gives it even more hard-edged aesthetics. It's easiest to notice the changes in the new grille and headlights, which are more aggressive than before. But there are also some tweaks to both the front and rear bumpers, as well as some new wheel designs and autodimming side mirrors. Nothing wild here, but the Palisade definitely looks better with its new face.
A few more things change inside the 2023 Palisade. The upper half of the dashboard gets a makeover that includes a full-width trim piece connecting the HVAC cents, as well as a new steering wheel and new navigation buttons for the infotainment system. The driver's seat gets a quasi-massage function that uses air bladders to help reduce driver fatigue. The second row picks up ventilation as an option, while the third row adds heating. A new rearview mirror can let the driver peek behind from the backup camera's point of view, in case there are too many physical objects between the driver and the rear glass.
Tech gets a major upgrade in the 2023 Hyundai Palisade. A new 12-inch infotainment display is available, offering 720p resolution and all the usual good stuff like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hyundai has given the Palisade a Wi-Fi hotspot for the first time, in addition to upgraded USB-C ports and wireless charging that is boosted from 5 watts to 15. There's also a clever new feature called Digital Key 2 Touch, which lets drivers ditch the key and use an iPhone, Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy to operate the vehicle. Apple Wallet and Samsung Pass will let drivers share their keys with trusted friends and family, too.

The 2023 Palisade's powertrain remains the same. Its 3.8-liter V6 puts out 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, which is routed through all four wheels by way of an eight-speed automatic transmission. A new Tow Mode will hold lower gears for longer and shift less often, which should improve how it feels when hauling heavy stuff.

No, simply for the stupid transmission dial.

Are you going to pharmacy school at Xavier?

Resale value is probably nearing Land Rover level.

I think she'd say it looks good, is reasonable, and that not driving it because it's a Hyundai is silly. And then she'd still decline to get one because it's a Hyundai.

Test drove the 2022. Still drives like a Hyundai. Went with the Aviator instead

Looks like a great off road vehicle with that big 3” ground clearance.

No... She would not drive.
And I would not blame her.

Not bad for a station wagon (they're not SUVs or "crossovers". Face it, you're driving a station wagon.)

It is on the shortlist for the wife's new car.
We don't quite pull in the 500k we would need to make for us to consider the 100+k AT4 Yukon XL the rest of the soccer moms are styling.
Seems to be the starter car for mom where we are.

Looks like they checked all the boxes and did everything right, but they forgot to re-brand the vehicle as something other than Hyundai.
Toyota is about to come out with a bigger, extended length Highlander. So that's probably the safer choice as far as long term reliability and resale is concerned.

On my wives list of "want" They have one with Navy and tan (or grey) interior that looks sharp.

Not bad, but the wife is eyeing the GV80.

I would much rather this than my wife's Lincoln. That thing is a POS and has been nothing but problems.

I bought my Freshman son a Hyundai Elantra as his first car, it isn't that bad.
All these OT Ballers can't be seen in a Hyundai

Looked at one two years ago. Went with the highlander instead. Toyota dealership didn’t play games while the Hyundai people were sketchy as hell the whole time. Even though the highlander didn’t have all the bells and whistles we knew it would be way more reliable.

Wife drives a 2021 and it’s great. It’s an incredible value, and doesn’t feel “cheap” compared to similarly priced vehicles. It’s not a luxury vehicle, but certainly competitive with the Explorers, Durangos, Highlanders, etc. With some modifications to the grille and black wheels it really does look pretty sharp.
I was super impressed with features that it comes with. I drive it to NOLA twice a week and the smart cruise and lane keeping features really make the drive not as miserable.
