That means they value that package more than their own lives, so why shouldn't I do the same?
Because then you'd lose the value of your own life when you're in jail.

course material items are worth more than some peoples' lives.

Material items are accrued by exchanging time or talent for a wage.

When you steal "stuff", you're stealing part of someones' life
What kind of items are you getting delivered to your house, that sit out on the porch and are worth more than someone's life?

I understand what you're saying though. People pay for things and how they earn their money to pay has took investment from them, whether that's time or something else. You're not wrong, I guess I'm just curious what kind of shite you're getting delivered that sits on your porch that's so expensive.

I don’t believe you should be allowed to kill them but this subject is one I’ve discussed with friends. The inability to “police” your own property has caused a lot of problems. Criminals do not fear the justice system in this instance. I believe you should be allowed to beat the shite out of a thief you catch in the act without any repercussions. Of course that’s a slippery slope and I understand how that would present its on problems but the fact you can’t defend your property without facing charges yourself is sad.

They say you value your possessions more than someone’s life if you cause injury to a thief. I say the thief valued my possessions more than their life.

Not executed but I would be all for locking them in a vehicle and pouring wasps into the car.

Exactly, I used to be scared I'd get shot at for rolling yards when I was a kid.

Now cops and good citizens live in fear of going to jail for protecting their lives "incorrectly" from a person that just tried to kill them or for attempting to protect their property.

Not executed but I have no problem with putting their names and photos on the news and sending them to prison.

Here's the problem, they are literally never caught by anyone other than the homeowner. All they can do is yell. Execution solves that problem.

Our government won't pass a law like that unless they can make some kind of money off it.

We could put like a $100 fine on it! That way it’s discouraged to kill them but not really prohibitively expensive

Poor people get their stuff stolen too

Maybe make the fine a percentage of the order price

I’d support a law for all thieves to be executed on the spot.

Go back to Hammurabi's code.

Steal something? Get your hands cut off. Won't be stealing again. Don't even put them in prison, put them back out on the street so they can serve as an example to anyone who wants to follow in their foot steps.
