Would you drive this? Likely the best selling hybrid vehicle in the world for 2021

24 MPG out of an F-150 gasser.
quote:
Debuting in the refreshed-for-2021 F-150, the PowerBoost hybrid pairs Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 with a 47-hp electric motor, making this the highest-output powertrain in the current F-150 lineup. (Ford has yet to lay out what's under the hood of the 2021 Raptor, which will almost certainly outmuscle this.) The motor is sandwiched between the engine and the standard 10-speed automatic, while a 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery tucks under the bed. The battery may seem a bit small for a vehicle of this size, but Ford chose it because it's easy to package and less costly than larger packs, and its weight won't considerably impact the all-important towing and payload capacities. Combined output for this powertrain is a stout 430 horses and 570 pound-feet of torque—gains of 30 ponies and 70 pound-feet versus the updated nonhybrid EcoBoost 3.5-liter.
quote:
The motor isn't designed to provide meaningful acceleration on its own, but it does allow for short periods of electric cruising at low speeds. Transitions from gas to electric power are almost imperceptible, as is the changeover from regenerative to friction braking. The hybrid scores 24 mpg on the EPA's combined cycle, 4 mpg more than a regular EcoBoost 3.5 F-150 manages.

I'm not in love with the styling at all, but I like what they've done to the interior. The new Ford interior has surpassed Chevrolet and Toyota, but still not as good as the new Ram.
It looks like they borrowed the GMC headlights, then made them ugly to fit with the new new F-150's grill.

Nah. I'll wait a few years until Rivian gets the kinks worked out and buy one of those.

Looks good enough to put truck nuts on

And give up my ‘93 Toyota Carolla? Not a chance, bub

They need to rework the styling from the A pillar forward.

How does it stack up to the CyberTruck in price?

Does it matter? You still can't get a Cybertruck.

I’m not opposed to it. But, I’m not going to pay $15k extra for it like they probably want. If they will turn out hybrids at the same or lower cost, I’ll buy one. But if it cost anything extra at all, you’re really going to have a hard time making it pay out considering that it only amounts to an extra 4 mpg and increased maintenance costs on down the line.

Putting the shifter in the middle of the console is so stupid. Just make it a knob like Ram does. There's no need for all that crap right there.

You keep saying this, why?

It's a power folding shifter. So it takes up the same amount of space, but horizontally instead of vertically.

Some people like the shifter in the console.
It’s a shame they don’t have the option to have it on the steering column to get it out of the way. Oh wait.

IT's in the console. IT's taking up console space. YOu can fold it however the frick you want. It's in the console wasting space when it could be somewhere else not wasting that space.

Rotary shifters are queer.

Why not put this in the 2.7 and then get closer to 30mpg?
Op, in the world? No one outside of North America drives this.

Seems like a lot could go wrong for an extra 4 mpg.

That's how popular pickup trucks are in the US.

It seems as if the hybrid version doesn't offer much but will probably add more costs and just be more that can fail/need repair. All electric is probably the way to go once they work out all of the kinks, shops are prepared for the repairs, and costs come down.
