Worst internet speed

I'm in rural Alabama now (don't ask) and here's what I got this morning:
Don't think I've seen a ping time that high since the 80's.
ETA: Yes, I see that I'm hitting Kansas City. I am in fact in Gumpland.

Increase the upload and download speed by maybe 10% and you have what I live with daily in north central Gumpland.

I pay through the nose for stand alone Comcast internet, but it has good speed.
ATT U-Verse is available here soon, but I doubt it will be as stout.

So I move into my new place and the first thing I do is get on the internet. They installed the wrong fricking package. I signed up for 12mbps, not 3. I called about that and they tried to do an OTA update, but that made the internet stop working completely. Now they have to send someone out.
The girl that I spoke to is trying to get someone to come tomorrow, but they're all giving her dates on weekdays. I won't be here during their hours on weekdays!
