Recently moved near Vegas from Nashville. Won several thousand in cash and would like to transfer it to my checking account. My bank doesn’t have a local branch here. Local Western Union says they don’t wire to bank accounts. Is my only option to open an account with a local bank for the sole purpose of transferring this cash to my Nashville checking account?

Why wouldn't you want a bank with a local branch anyway? I know people don't use branches nearly as often anymore but I still need one every once in awhile

Vanderbilt fan asking for banking advice from an LSU board.

Never thought I'd see the day.

Why wouldn’t you blow it on hookers and blow?

If that’s not your thing, then stuff it under your mattress. Banks are about to start crashing this week as people start pulling money out of them. You’re a step ahead with cash already on hand.

According to what ATM network your bank uses you can deposit cash through some ATM machines.

I don’t mind just holding on to it. Just checking to see if there was an option that I had missed.

Hadn’t thought of that. I’ll check. Thanks.

Maybe he’s worried about the collapse coming in a couple weeks.

I'm a little surprised that a casino can't do an ACH transfer.

I’ve thought about that after the fact. I’ve been told those casino transfers only go in, not out.

He didn't say it was in a casino, he only implied that.

He could have won it playing craps in an alley or maybe he just robbed a liquor store. The fact he's already talked to Western Union and is finally on OT Lounge for next steps tells me there's more to this story.

Oh it was definitely in a casino.

Seems incredible to me that with the ease and speed that money changes hands from account to account, that I have to open a local brick and mortar account just to be able to transfer back to my primary account.

if its under $2k then just go to grocery store and buy a dozen eggs, loaf of bread and gallon of milk, and you will owe them a balance

seriously, whatever bank they have can direct wire transfer it directly to your bank no matter where it is in this country. its not rocket science how this works

It makes no sense to have a bank with a branch in your former hometown, halfway across the country, but nor your current one. If you have a reason for the account to reside in Nashville, I would think you would use a bank, like Chase, with branches nationwide.

Maybe I just don't understand the Ops situation.

These are the times to be reinvesting back in your local communities. Take the profits and get some hookers and blow.

Write for Mobile Deposit Only on each bill. Take a picture of the cash using your Nashville Bank's app. Press deposit. Easy Peasy

Can you get a cashiers check with the cash and mobile deposit at your other bank?
