Wife filled up her car at local gas station...it was 10% gas and 90% "foreign substance".

Saturday, my wife (no pics) went to a local gas station to fill up. I'm not going to say the name of the gas station because they are still in the process of paying the claim. She drove off and 2 miles later her car stopped. She immediately knew it was the gas. She called the gas station, they referred her to corporate who then took her claim. Her car was towed to the dealership. The dealership called her back yesterday and told her that it was the gas that was the problem...and it was 10% actual gas and 90% foreign substance or water.
So how does a tanker truck deliver a load of "gas" that's 90% water?

My guess is it’s the stations tanks & not what was delivered

Probably just stirred up the gunk that accumulated in the bottom of the storage tank at the station. Best to wait a day if they are filling the in ground tank so that can settle. Doubt the tanker truck was mostly water.

What’s that have to do with not naming the station?

The gas station called my wife an hour after the dealership called yesterday and told her that they investigated the claim and it was substantiated...and they will pay for all repairs and rental car.

Gotta tell your wife to quit putting foreign substances in there.

How did she know this?

Actually, this is one of the few times I advocate calling in the Feds. This needs to be reported to the EPA. If that station's tank had that much water / foreign substance delivered to this car, then it's a certainty that tank is leaching gas into the ground water and needs to be replaced right away. OP needs to inform what the station is to the Feds. I understand he wants to settle but waiting is doing a disservice to everyone.

Your wife probably didn’t even need gas. She was just “topping off”
Kind of like when she hoarded toilet paper.

Your wife filled up with diesel. The stealership was just being nice.

Pics of wife are needed to determine what foreign substance may have been pumped in.

Gas station tanks always have a bit of water in them, usually it's not an issue because the water separates and floats at the top while the gas is pumped from the bottom.
Water settles at the bottom of the tank once it enters the fuel tank.

At least give us a hint. Major gas chain? City, state?

You do know gas is lighter than water right? Oh wait you don’t….. The water is at the bottom of the tank.

If you are going to be snarky at least use the correct term. Gas has a lower density than water.
