I came across this YouTube video of a crazy woman going off on a driver for no apparent reason. The driver only makes half of the fair and has to deal with drunk people or losers without cars... mind boggling

I had an Uber pick me up in a Ram Crewcab once.

How was that guy making any money?

When they pick people up from big events they make bank. Asked a Lyft what they made a week once. Was told about 800 a week. That’s not terrible money to drive around

The first Uber I ever took was in Austin in 2014 and it was a G Wagon

Also had a deaf driver a couple of times in Houston

Have a black lifted 4x4, I've done uber a few times on Friday and Saturday nights. Make 2-300 bucks a night. That's an extra 1500 bucks a month.

I had an asian lady pick me up in a truck that had no back seat. She was a horrible driver, spoke little english and texted while she drove.

I had to tell her to pay attention to the road because I was so scared.

That’s why you pay more for the black car. They are drug tested and pretty selective w drivers.

$42k per year likely before expenses (and possibly taxes) and no benefits. You need to redefine “bank”.

You have it all figured out based on a YouTube video. Great job!

Because that type of situation basically never happens.

As a side gig, it isn't bad.

I think lyft and uber (and pizza delivery) count on people not understanding (or not caring about) the depreciation value they're putting on their cars.

I suspect that if you truly accounted for the cost of driving the car, the proceeds from these things would be very slim.

Especially considering some of the cars I've been picked up in.
