re: Why is absolutely every couple in today’s commercials an interracial couple?

Or movies written by mostly gay screenwriters , all of whom are Progressives that portray the American family as violent and fraudulent and every Marine or cop secretly wants to move to a gay bathhouse or if not that beat the crap out of their wives. All these Cultural cliches are just way too repetitive and obvious.
What the frick are you babbling about now?

Dude “accidentally” rented another gay porno. Gotta hate it when that happens...

Two great looking, thin, successful parents with 2-4 kids, living in a $450k+ home, and a daughter getting a new car... isn't indicative of the typical American family either -- since the typical American couple is a fat female and an average or below average-looking male, at best. Commercials aren't stewards of reality.
But such couples and families do exist no matter how rare; likewise the interracial couples depicted in commercials. The couples (interracial and thin couples) depicted in commercials are often far more represented in higher income areas; which is why the average American rarely sees such.

You mean not everyone gets a new car every Christmas?

The way FAMILY and MEN are portrayed in popular culture. Pretty simple . The American Beauty paradigm. Men are weak and predatory, families are bastions of parental abuse , ignorance and bullying, etc.
I get that you are just being the douchcanoe that you always are, and are incapable of adult conversation, but the way that we portray our most basic human Institutions is actually very important. That’s why there are dozens of books written every year about such topics. Not that you would ever read one of them .

The part of the thread where you intentionally miss the point, seize on a guy making a point and go all literal . Good luck with that.

I saw a Coke commercial last night that highlighted sharing a Coke with an SO. Not one mixed race or gay couple. I was amazed.

Yes, why this is should matter. What is the agenda, it isn't a random happenstance.

Try avoiding the gay pork section of Netflix and that should fix your problem.

Because American society needs to learn how to not be racist.

Include more groups and taxes in their commercials to broaden brand appeal and make more money.
The idea that all of these companies are after some ambiguous social agenda rather than the simple “make the most money” agenda is dumb.

ad agencies rigorously test this. I read an article in ad age about demographics. And it pretty much said that there are some people who won't buy if someone doesn't look like them, and there are some people that will buy even if it doesn't look like them. I am sure these are tested prior to airing, at least for large brands.

the goal is to SELL. They don't give a frick about these things in of themselves, they want to sell shite.

That’s the nail on the head.
In particular, research shows that black Americans respond more favorably to commercials with black actors.
Multi-racial couples are a great way to trigger that response while also incorporating some white or other race actors.

That's incomplete. The correct answer is BOTH. To sell products and sell point of view. C'mon guys, use your head.
They are selling a product and a version of America that reflects their Coastal ad-agency views. Nothing wrong with that, and not sure why people get agitated and go into denial when people point out the obvious.

I have. These are marketing people paid to deliver sales. You haven’t presented any evidence other than “use your head”

I mean I just think the arguments are generally used to push some soft white nationalism about the risks of “mixing the races.”

What? Are you arguing people in this thread aren’t treating the “mixing of the races” as a concern? Or are you arguing that concern about “mixing of the races” is totally normal?
