some stars have names too (one day they will get around to naming all of the "billions and billions of stars")
but not our sun, our sun is likewise nameless. apparently there are many unnamed orbs aloft in the ether. a mere oversight I am sure. give the sun and moon another 4 billion years and I'm sure they will be properly named

NASA actually gives a pretty solid reason that would probably apply to the Sun as well. According to NASA, we call it "The Moon" because for the longest time, it was the only moon we were aware of.

Because if we named it, some group would say it was racist and the whole country would go insane. We can be like the Washington Football Team and just call it, "Earth's Moon"

I always assumed that was its name and the technical term to describe a body in space that orbited a planet was a satellite. I kinda figured how everyone calls a cotton swab a QTip was the same thing going on here.

Probably because we saw that one first and a lot sooner than any other satellite was discovered. Just a guess.

Because it's our Moon. Why do you call your mother Mom but you call everyone else's mother by their name?
