Why do people use Wal Mart employees as an example for higher minimum wage?
I just googled it. The average Wal Mart employee makes $13 an hour. That’s pretty damn decent considering the qualifying criteria to get the job.

You need a high school diploma or GED and most don’t know shite about their jobs. It’s a temperature controlled environment with absolutely little to no expectations. Stock some shelves, straighten their area, show up on time, and have a pulse.

Customer: “Hey, where is this located?”

WM employee: “Over there”

Customer: “K. Thanks”

Boom. $13 an hour. I don’t get what the complaint is. I think they’re lucky for that and many probably get a crapload of gov’t entitlements along with it.

It’s okay to hate on Walmart. But it’s not okay to hate on amazon warehouse slaves. Don’t you know this?

In all seriousness I had a helpful Walmart employee promptly assist me the other day.

Walmart and McDonald's are the two big ones. Mainly because there are a ton of stores and they employ a lot of people.

Ironic thing is that the only people who work there that are worthy of 13/hr are the stock boys who actually work.

If you can work you way up to a Store Manager that's a $100,000 a year job plus bonuses.

average pay per hour doesn't seem like a good indicator when you factor in a whole company. It will ALWAYS be much higher than minimum wage

Not worth it, lol

Can you imagine the shite you have to put up with on a daily basis. I bet these guys get at most one day off a week.

The cart wranglers and stock boys might make minimum wage. Cashiers make more.

Mostly not by choice. It’s so Walmart doesn’t have to offer benefits.

And have no time to spend or enjoy your money. It’s an awful job. You’re lucky to get even one day off a week. Store managers get abused to hell and back by higher ups.

That doesn't factor in the whole company. That was ONLY full time hourly workers, and the stat is from 2016 when starting pay was $9. They raised their minimum to $11 this year after passage of the tax bill.

I can't think of a time when I was in such a hurry at WalMart that I needed to find someone and ask instead of reading signs or walking for a few extra minutes

Every time some baw at Sonic/Burger King/whatever is the flavor of the OT at the moment gets my order wrong, I tell the kids "If they can't read from a list of items on a screen, and put said list in a fricking bag, they don't deserve $15 an hour. That's why they work there and make $8."

yep, i worked like a damn mule most of my young teen life for $5 an hour, mid 20s was laborer jobs in the $6-$7 range, spent my 30s making $8 an hour in construction trades and worked my way up to $10 an hour over the next 10 years.

why the frick these idiots think they deserve $15 an hour to flip burgers or point to something on a shelf is beyond retarded
