I don't disagree

How the hell can you sleep in a bed that’s covered in fur and dander, next to the equivalent of a small horse?

Id venture to say you've never dug a fighting hole to sleep in while being in the field for days at a time.

It’s not really unconditional, now is it?

You feed the thing, bathe it, cuddle it, play with it, baby talk it, nurse it, pick up its shite, give it toys, and sleep with it. No fricking wonder it shacks up with you.

I don't dislike dogs but I will tolerate them. I don't think I will ever own one again in my life since I had already owned the greatest one during my childhood which was a German Shepherd. It was absolutely heartbreaking for me to say goodbye to her and I am not sure that I could ever replace her hence why I have never attempted to have another dog.

Does that make me a bad person?

It certainly doesn't make you a bad person in any way but it may make you a person that is depriving themselves of one of life's great pleasures. While I generally think comparisons between pets and children are stupid I think one is apropos here. People don't love each of their children in exactly the same way, they are each unique and it fosters a unique relationship with each one. Dogs to me are the same. We have three currently but even though two are littermates they are all wildly different and we have a different relationship with each one and my wife and I would disagree on which is our favorite but both agree our lives are better as a result of our bond with each of them. If the fear of never meeting your expectations vis a vis your previous dog is the ONLY reason you don't have a dog I suggest you rethink it.

Dogs are cool as shite, give unconditional love, and mine comes with me on work trips and stays in the hotel while I work. What's better than a little ball of fur chillin with you on a 7 hour drive?

Got me a rescue about 3 months ago. Hasn’t been a night she hasn’t been cuddled up next to me since she came home, doesn’t shed much either. Only complaint is that she’ll growl if I even try to budge the bed hog over dogs are great man, just go foster one for a few days and I promise it will change your perspective

People that are obsessed with their dogs are kind of like adults that are obsessed with Disney

News alert:
Dogs are not people
Dogs are not human
Dogs are not on the same level as family members
Dogs are simply animals that bring us joy & happiness from the relationship we have to them.

No they don’t sleep in my bed because my bed is clean and animals don’t reside there.

Downvote away for your happiness. I’m good.

You’re someone I’d never want to meet. Most people, I’m sure, find you a frightening bore. If you notice in the future your other two ‘friends’ getting dogs.....take the hint. They don’t want you around.

I agree. I like other peoples “well behaved” dogs. I love to spoil the wife and kids, but this is one of the things that won’t happen in my house.
