I’m not proud to admit this but in the days of my stupid youth I drove drunk many many times. That being said I never sped like a bat out of Hell.

What’s up with drunk drivers speeding?

And I don’t mean going 45mph in a 40mph zone. I’m sure I went five to maybe ten miles an hour over the speed limit while driving.
I’m talking this 90 plus mph shite they always do. I don’t get it.

When I’m drunk I lose motor control. Putting your foot down is easier than keeping it held up. The car goes faster when your foot is down.

Safe to say that people who are drinking and driving may have impaired judgement due to the alcohol.

I'd imagine it's the same reason drunk people make any bad decisions.

Because the faster they go the less time a drunk driver is on the road.

Alcohol intoxication leads to poor decision making. Speeding is a byproduct of making poor choices.

Edit: also to save money on gas, to buy more booze.

Alcohol removes the guilt. Everyone truly wants to drive fast as hell.

I mean if you are already driving drunk, you already lack the mental capacity to make good decisions

Yep, I can admit to doing the same things unfortunately in my youth, but yeah I never get it. Anytime I did it, I made sure that I didn’t go faster than the speed limit, didn’t run a red light, come to a complete stop to make a right turn on red, and just follow all the basic traffic laws. shite, sometimes I drove better drunk than sober. When I’m sober, it’s 90+ on the interstate all the way through Baton Rouge, weaving in and out of lanes, and around other vehicles.

If you get home faster it’s less time you’re on the roads for some Bozo to ruin your day.

Simple. The faster you drive, the quicker you get home (or to the next bar). The less time your drunk arse is on the road, the less time there is for something bad to happen.

Plus, there's the added bonus of getting better gas mileage, but I'll have to get MJ2 to fully explain that concept.

I drive slower when drunk. Try to keep it level. Always make sure my lights n shut all worn before going out. Never gotten caught, knock on wood.
