The better question is, why does anyone care that they're getting married......again?

Settle down. Its not like they're Royals or something.

I mean, Affleck is from Cambridge and Lopez is from New York. The whole antebellum plantation culture is in their DNA.

You can't take that away from them.

Will the wedding be 4 hours long and be something only your grandparents would enjoy?

It’s not a difficult question. They have “Progressive insurance”.

BTW, Dems will never be shamed by the “that’s (D)ifferent” meme. They damn well know they get different treatment. Why else would they “pay” for Progressive insurance with their virtue signaling?

They have a pseudo-philosophical name for it, repressive tolerance.

You know damn well the owner of the slaves didn't call it slave street. So people are mad at a name non-slave owners gave given to the street for some sort of marketing purposes.

The irony is that folks and companies in both Massachusetts and New Yawk profited mightily from the Slave Trade and the subsequent labor of indentured persons.

But the cataclysm of the Civil War (with being on the winning side of that conflict) allowed them to spin the narrative.

History is written by the victors.

This is really go to screw up everyone’s “Ben and Jaylo are getting special Democrat treatment” theory in this thread.

What happens when black people get married there? Are weddings ever held on the former estates of black slave holders? How am I supposed to feel about that?

Look, I'm perfectly fine with people denouncing slavery and alot of things that went on in the past, but how about looking at the place and just saying "that place is beautiful" because it is. If we keep rehashing the past and placing fault on people who have no responsibility for those wrongs how will things ever progress?

Yeah, I know I'm preaching to the choir.

If she had all of the pricks that have been in her sticking out of her, she’d be a porcupine.

Ummmm? Is there anyone that would seriously argue that, being literally integrated into the same overall national economy, that there wouldn’t be economic cooperation between Northern and Southern states?

I think it has always been widely accepted that, for instance, textile industries in the Northeast used cotton from the Southern states. I don’t know who has been hiding this information.

Where the Northern states have always gained the moral high ground in this debate was not having a single state with slavery above the Mason-Dixon Line post-1803.

Edit: And during the immediate post-war era up until the 1960s, the dominant victor narrative didn’t even focus on slavery at all. It’s was 90 percent a narrative of “The Loyal North against the Treasonous South” until the Civil Rights movement re-aligned historical the dominant narratives of the Civil War to the issue of slavery.

(Note: I’m not one of those people who say the Civil War wasn’t about slavery. Just that the alignment of a cohesive “Northern” perspective was primarily about the loyalty of the Union for much of the first 100 years after the war.)

I'm not a very political guy anymore, use to be, but probably 2012-13 time period lost interest. I do remember back around the time Trump did the funding for HBCUs, long term funding. I remember on my old FB watching several white democrat friends laughing at him wasting money and time on people that will never vote for him. Hit me hard, but always confirms most white democrats don't have black people's interest like they preach. It confirmed it because I had been skeptical for a number of years, regarding the white democrat. And since then, has definitely confirmed it for me.

Black people have issues they need to straighten out for sure, crime, fatherless homes, etc, but they won't get straightened out until the white liberal gets out of their way.

There is a big difference from getting married at a beutiful estate and having a period wedding to pretend you are some sort of slave owner.

That doesn't need a plantation setting.
