Why are Drive-Thru lines so much slower than carryout

The Drive-Thru line is double wrapped around McDonalds to the point where I had to park at the bank next door. I walk in and order my food and they have it out faster than I can blink.

People are too fat and lazy to get out of the car, and moreover too dumb to realize the amount of fuel they waste by idling for 20 minutes while they pull up fo da spicy.
