Citizens know that police departments around the country are lowering their standards. But, the media is looking in the wrong place. It's not criminal history or drugs. It's debt.

When all the decent law men are gone they will fill their ranks with jackboot thugs that will do their dirty work, like in Australia. They won’t be from your town or even state. Maybe not even this country. They’ll offer to erase their debts, give them power and perks.

I just saw a YouTube video about his from a retired officer in California . He called modern police academies debtor’s prison.

Follow an Police Academy for five years after graduation and see how many file for bankruptcy. They don’t tell you it takes years to be eligible for the good overtime. For the first five years it’s table scraps.

I'd imagine this applies to a lot of lower wage jobs. Did they mention anything specific to the occupation that makes it worse than other similar paying jobs?

The base pay is so low that they can only recruit losers who are attracted to the authority to punish their fellow citizens. $60k to be an officer in New Orleans? Miss me with that bullshite. You’re not hiring winners with that salary.

I’m not LEO but I work with LEO and I wouldn’t want their jobs for anything. And it’s not just the public perspective. I don’t want to bust my arse, doing a shite-ton of paperwork to put legit bad guys away only to have judges repeatedly slap them on the wrist and cutting them loose to continue their criminal activity.

I don't know ... having to walk up to the drivers window of a blacked out vehicle in the dead of night, knowing there's a xx% chance of someone inside pointing a gun at you?

The guy just said credit score used to disqualify people from becoming a cop. He was actually saying if a person was in serious debt becoming a cop now is the best way to get out. But he also indicated it is not a long term career.
