Who had a kick-arse chemistry set as a kid?

I figure today about 95% of the chemicals provided are probably on a 'ban' list or not available.

I had one and the only real thing we ever made was invisible ink.
The rest of the time we would just add random stuff together, add a drop of random liquid, and shake it.

My brother had one... He use to light the sulfur on fire to watch it turn blue... I wonder if the fumes we inhaled was bad for us...?

It was the 90's so it was probably not as kick-arse as some others here, but I loved the hell out of that. Same year I got the rock candy crystal growing kit.

Oh yeah use to live to burn sulphur and I did not know what I was doing.
I even burnt up my mother’s new leather couch accidentally. I set the test tube with sulphur on fire and accidentally panicked throwing it in the couch when I was 5.
Let’s see that leather couch.
- I stabbed it 4 times when my mom went outside to put the garbage can out when I was three. Remember it well. Locked her out, used the stool to get a kitchen knife, and cut up the couch, and let her back in blaming it on the poodle. Got spanked and sent to my room.
- I watch my mom iron and when she put the iron down I put it in the couch and burnt a hole in it at 4 yrs old. Got spanked and sent to be without my dinner.
- I poured a burning test tube of sulphur on it a year after she had it recovered. Got the board of education on my butt and sent to bed without my dinner.
- Beat the heck out of a kick in kindergarten for taking my tricycle. Grandpa gave me a high five and mom spanked me sending me to bed without my dinner.

I had creepy crawlers and it was dangerous.
It was basically a little oven that cooked plastic in metal molds. What could go wrong?

I mixed two chemicals together from a 100-piece set that came in a red metal box. I had no idea what I mixed but they began foaming rapidly so I threw the jar I mixed them in out an open window. Next day the grass beneath the window was dead and nothing ever grew there again.
