English class in 10th grade.
What's crazy is I now live about ~200 yards from the Freedom Tower/WTC memorial pools. The view out of my window faces the tower. Crazy to think about what happened right there not so long ago...

I was at work and a coworker asked I'd heard about the wtc and a plane hitting it. I had inet access I started digging. We'd thought it was a prop job. Soon after finding out that it was an airliner and that another had hit, it was obvious this was no accident.
We all gathered in the bosses office around his tv. Very surreal.
Also our immediate boss was in aruba at the time. She emailed us saying "I won't be seeing you guys for a few days."
A lady in our group was asking if they'd actually shoot down an airliner that was believed to be under terrorist control. I assured her it absolutely happen.

6th grade history. Teacher had a daughter that lived in New York and that's how we got the news. I grew up a lot that day

My neice now lives in Manhattan and she was getting her condo remodeled. The store she bought her tile and other materials from is owned by a retired FDNY member.
He was there at the time. Listening to him tell what happened and what they experienced was a spooky but amazing experience.
One of his friends was a coworker at the time and he still had a hard time returning to the area for a ceremony and this was '08. Its like he has post traumatic stress.

Goddamn, I feel old now
I tend to forget how young most are on here.
I was at the shop and we wound up at a guy's house who lived close by to watch it unfold on TV.
We had equipment broken down, had located parts in Wisconsin on Monday and they were in the air on Tuesday when they were grounded along with everything else. It was two days before any of us gave them a second thought. Everything became instantly unimportant.

I was Chief of a Coast Guard small boat detachment in Virginia. We were dispatched to NYC and made it to Ground Zero before midnight. It was a surreal experience and the deployment lasted 90 days before we were relieved. God Bless the people of New York. The ash was so thick that everyone looked like statues that had come to life. It was crazy to see computer paper and high heeled shoes hanging from landscaping trees like ornaments. I will never forget.
PS: frick terrorists!

I was the only American on a team working in a small city in England. It was around 2:00pm and one of the English guys in the office told me that a plane had hit one of the WTC towers. I thought it was an accident like when a plane hit the Empire State Building around WWII. I got stranded in England because of the restrictions on air travel. When I got back to the US, it was amazing to see the changes - military at the airport, flags everywhere, etc.

At home. Had just gotten up, got coffee and turned on tv. Saw second plane hit the trade center. I thought it was a movie trailer. Worked evening shift at hospital that day, felt so strange as if life shouldn't have been going on as it was.
