When you have to deal with hurricanes you should always have window units available. I have one that stays in my bedroom because I like it cold and I don’t want to have to run my main unit

We have multiple variable speed, zoned units. When one goes out the other one typically keeps part of the house cool and the rest of it comfortable. Not cheap, but highly recommended. Same redundancy with the tankless water heaters. I’m fricked during hurricane season though. Too poor to get a 33kw generator :( since I went variable speed units on the hvac. FML

Dont you get it serviced and checked regularly?
Posted on 5/23/25 at 9:30 pm to Slippy
Get it done on Saturday it's only an extra 100 or so
If it can be repaired.
Sunday and Monday will be more expensive.
Check your condensate drain
Also if you are mechanically inclined it could be your capacitor it's an easy fix

That’s the only way it will ever happen. It’s like the fire alarm battery that died and started beeping at 2:00 AM earlier this week in my kitchen.

Start with thr easiest thing. Change the batteries in the thermostat.

Be a man, go check the capacitor and make sure it’s fried

No AC = shitty life? You need to reflect on this.
Honestly, I don’t. This is where my line in the sand is at. I’m not moving.
