Agreed. Looks like it's covered in soot.

Louisiana tends to let nature take it’s course with old buildings, roads, medians etc. A good rain will get it cleaned up again.

So the answer to your question greatly lies within the hiring process of the folks that clean it.

On a list of jobs from hardest to easiest, the state pulls out an another sheet for hiring those employees. It’s reserved for the 300 pound chicks that do the waddle/limp thing and move as slow as a turtle.

They clean but not quite in the way you would see cleaning done

It was definitely pressure washed in the 1990’s or early 2000’s. That dark scum doesn’t take long to return.

How do you live in Louisiana and never seen mildew?

They could clean that thing ever week and it would still look like that almost all the time.

they redo ours every damn summer just to keep those snakes from moving the capital to Anchorage.

I live two buildings away.

It’s been cleaned in sections systematically during the 2nd JBE term. I run and bike around the capital most weekdays and if you think it’s dirty now you should have seen it before they started.

The building is beautiful inside.
The people that inhabit the building are terrible, though.

They cleaned it about a decade or so ago. But it is an only a mile or two from a giant oil refinery and it’s located in South Louisiana. So not sure what you expect.

Now it could be cleaned more often if you wanted to pay more taxes or give less tax breaks to business…but I’m guessing that’s a non-starter for most on this site.
