I'm sure it's not an issue for OT-ballers here, but it's true for many folks...

Shouldn’t your OT posting privileges be revoked?

Working from home, and ordering items from the internet, has taken the sting out of higher gas prices.

A diet that focuses on fruits and vegetables, and keeps me out of restaurants, has taken some of the sting out of higher food prices.

I haven’t had to have a new vehicle or mess with the real estate market.

The real pain has been erosion of the dollar and especially the retreat of the stock market.

I’m not ashamed to say that I’m getting killed. Industry downturn at the worst possible time. I just keep in mind that others have it far worse.

So are you saying staying home and having no life is the key to beating inflation?

I don’t know if I could stay at home to beat inflation but I surely enjoy staying at home and beating my meat.

One way or another, that’s always how you stop it. That, coupled with increasing supply.

Slow down spending. Make/import more goods.

Not far from the truth. It’s tough finding entertainment.

Thank god I work at home so we only have one vehicle to pay gas for. It hasn’t hurt us much at all yet but I can’t imagine what some are paying for both husband and wife to commute every day. At some point we’re gonna see mass work from home numbers again just to save money on gas. Honestly don’t know why companies aren’t doing that yet - it’s not like they didn’t learn how to get by with remote workers before.

I’m with you. We lived on $2300/month when we first got married a few years ago. Now living on 2800/mo. That’s all necessities included with no extra money for “wants”. I don’t make much over that so things got realllll tight.

Typically effects lower class and blue collar workers. Covid-19 sent a lot of middle to upper middle class workers to home, while lower class still had to drive. Still true now, and nothing that's happened under Biden has helped the lower class.
