When did LinkedIn turn into Facebook?Posted by VermilionTiger
on 1/13/21 at 10:03 am

I’ve been on LinkedIn for 5-6 years, but within the last few, I’ve really noticed a change.
People sharing politically themed walls of text. Memes. Selfies (WTF). Seriously, what the frick is going on
The work from home vs anti work from home posts are what keep me coming back. Boomers get so irate

They obviously aren't trying to get hired or make real connections if they are doing that. I noticed the trend also, makes me want to get rid of linkedin

The self-congratulatory posts irk me the most.
"After much deliberation and prayer, I'd like to announce that I've accepted a position at an 'accounting firm that hires 100k undergraduates per year".

The car selfie LinkedIn profile pictures are the best.

Also a fan of the "overcoming the odds" virtue signaling posts

I don’t understand car selfies in general.

LinkedIn actually had a lot of members, but not much activity. Activity is what drives the advertisement money. So they are just trying to find ways to get all of those users to be more active on their platform.

I have about 800 connections on LinkedIn but I only use it for potential job opportunities that I occasionally get on there. I never post or comment on anything.
I agree it's Facebook light these days.

I logged into my linked in account yesterday for the first time in 2 years, and that was the first thing I noticed.

How about the chickens that have "LINKEDIN IS NOT A DATING APP" in their profiles? We get it, you're "work hot." Let me hire you and your great attitude ASAP... NOT!

Incredibly honored and humbled to receive a request for a phone interview for a back-office role at *insert bulge bracket IB*!

When a person at company sends a co-worker or subordinate a congratulatory note or “thanks for all you do” meme, I delete them.
The political posts have gone over the top.
Had a customer virtue signal about being in a vaccine trial.
It is a wasteland.

LinkedIn is a virtual necessity in the business world and operates as your public resume. I don’t remember the last time I looked up a name and didn’t find a profile. Most successful people don’t really use the platform for anything other than go have a public resume or mining contacts. They’re not posting memes, only the jackasses do that.
Facebook has been attention whoring trash from the start. I know many people that never had profiles and many more who canceled.
