Can anyone trace back to the time when this blessed tradition began?

Early 1970's. What was cool was when the streakers took to running.

I believe it started with the Zulu parade with women constantly upping their game trying to flirt with float riders handing out coconuts.
Flashing was just taking that practice to its logical conclusion.

Mid 70's according to a study done by a sociologist at LSU.
It started with a nudist colony when they visited NOLA...

I have been riding in NOLA since 1989 and it has been going on since at least then. I will say this, on the parade route, it does not happen nearly as much as it did in the 90's.
