Will the street work on Napoleon be complete in time for the parades to roll as normal? I've heard conflicting stories.

From the looks of it I say no way that street is ready in time

No way.

I'm guessing just close the neutral ground right there, which would crowd the street side. Probably make Napoleon no ladders at all.
If they don't and the work is still going on, it will be a clusterfrick right there.

They had been saying for a while that the work would be done. I'm having a hard time believing that.

They started the work north of St. Charles earlier so maybe that side will be finished in time and they'll stage on Napoleon north of St. Charles??

The parades will line up on Napolean, but on the lake side (North) of st charles.

the fact that Napoleon will not even be a place to watch the parade is going to make it a clusterfrick everywhere else to squeeze in the people who usually watch it there.

Would be nice if they would just go up Marengo to St. Charles…that street is wide enough to have parade goers on both sides

Both sides are down to one lane from Claiborne to Magazine and the whole neutral ground is jacked up on the same stretch.

The construction is, basically, the length of Napoleon Ave. between the River and Claiborne Avenue. We drove uptown for supper in early November, and again yesterday. The lake side of Napoleon, north of St. Charles Ave. a good bit has been back-filled in the last five weeks. There may not, yet, be thick grass by Mardi Gras, but the neutral ground may well be open, at least up to Freret from Claiborne Ave., maybe even closer to St. Charles.

For the poster who mentioned starting at Magazine and Jefferson, the krewes still have to turn up to get to St. Charles Ave. The construction on the River side of St. Charles Ave. on Napoleon is just ramping up, now, BIG holes/pits, etc. all the way to Magazine St.
