I dont think that is a prerequisite for a cult. I joined Crossfit without any outside influence by another person.

ETA: and dont you post in 300 page the P90x thread? Is Tony Horton your David Koresh? I mean that is more cultish than Crossfit imo

I joined recently because I needed a place closer to my office.

Do I have to do the WOD if I show up tomorrow? Nope. If I feel like benching, dead lifting or squatting heavy as frick, I can do it. If I feel like working on crossfit typical movements like HSPUs, ring dips, wall balls, etc.. I can do it.

Hipsters, at least crossfitters are doing something to better themselves in some way. They can be annoying though, no doubt.

yea i can generally tell who has no clue what they are talking about when all they think CF'ers do is the shite they see in the GIFs.

We have a heavy strength portion every day, whether its squats, cleans, deadlifts, press, whatever. We're not swinging from rings all day and walking on our hands.

i don't see a large recruitment effort

idgaf why you started doing crossfit, but to ignore their salesmanship and pressure on people to join is being intellectually dishonest

that's why people call it a "cult"

nobody in the T25 thread is going out actively recruiting people to join. hell, there are like 4-5 different programs being discussed at any given time (body beast, T25, p90x, p3, insanity, etc)

So now it is a me vs lester thing? I agree I have been more lately, but what most people are talking about is what Les and SFP referred to...it goes a step further than just talking about it...I see you talk about random shite on here that I know I don't care about so I don't see the difference. And I wasn't dogging everyone that cross fits. Just noticing the trend. I really laugh at people that think they get fit quick by using what they think is a miracle drink.

I mean come on. Let me sit in my living room and follow this hyper active weirdo and the guy with a fake leg. Better yet, let me come post about it on a message board too!

I'm sorry. I was just fricking around. I don't get the hate

I guess I just don't know enough crossfitters. My mom does it but that's it. So I'm not exposed to any of the negative aspects y'all are talking about

Oh it's cool. There's a good bit on my newsfeed. I really think the title should have those that take those fad pills or drinks or some shite.

People decide to make a change in their lifestyle and add plexus or whatever and think it's all the plexus when in reality they decided to change their diet and pick up a fricking weight or two

With all that said, I am questioning PWO's again. Most seem to have a lot of unnecessary fillers.

You know level headed, and that i dont really buy into bullshite. But i can tell you why they want you to join. They want you to feel what they feel. Ive been doing it a year and can truly say it has changed my life. I was never able to commit to the normal gyms, but the structure of Crossfit has kept my coming back and I feel amazing. Im in the best shape of my life. My quality of life has skyrocketed( i mean it was already good, but its on another level).

Plus ive met some cool as people. So I wont even get into the community part.

I tell all my friends that are new to a city to join a Crossfit gym. Or anyone struggling with their social life. IT's a great way to meet new people. It doesn't feel abnormal at all. If i dont want to talk to someone, I dont. Ive never cheered for anyone during a workout. I can give 2 fricks about some of the people. It's all what you make out of it. I dont feel like im in a cult at all.
