What are some things that you wish you knew/understood earlier in life?

I'm referring to life lessons, not "wish i'd bought me a whole bunch of Apple stock when it was a dollar"

1) Don’t trust the media.

Im not going to go there exactly, but my wish is similar.. Specifically, i wish i had learned/understood more about investing when i was younger.. as they say, youth is wasted on the young.. i am trying to play catch up in my 40s so that i dont have to work til im 75.
The other thing i wish wish id known when i was younger is how much it SUCKS having to work for someone else.. if id invested more & earlier, i could have exited the rat race by now.. wish id realized how constraining it is to be on someone else’s schedule while working/building a career, and that time is the most valuable resource we have.
