West Monroe High School, you're next

A petition is gaining traction online to change the mascot of West Monroe High School.
Petition Organizers say the rebel mascot and the imagery are “not symbols of heritage or patriotism. They are symbols of hate and racism.”
They are also calling for a ban on the “Dixie” Song and any depictions of the confederate flag on campus as well as redesigning band and sports team uniforms.
At the time of this publication, there are a little over 1,000 people have signed the petition.

I remember going there to watch my hometown school play them(Vicksburg Mississippi) and the amount of rebel flags, rebel flag jeans,pants,shirts hats,jackets and shoes was mind blowing. And 30 to 40 percent of folks wearing it were black. That school in the late 90s had some bad arse teams and school spirit. That was the first time I had ever seen black folks wearing the rebel flag. Was weird to me then and I honestly can't believe they have made it this long.

I worked in the Monroe area for about a year and I know some folks from West Monroe and if you’ve ever dealt with West Monroe folk, you are probably aware of how proud they are of the fact that they are by God from WEST Monroe. I’ve seen some old baws come close to throwing down At lunch break over someone not specifically giving credit to one guy for being from WEST Monroe!
Probably one of the highest per capita ownership of Rebel bars and stars anywhere in the South, I would be completely blown smooth away if they get rid of the Rebel name or the Rebel flags, I just can’t see it happening there.

I’m surprised this hasn’t happened already tbh. There’s a whole lotta MAGA baws and parents at WMHS though, I can imagine there will be a fight against it for sure.

While “THEY” are calling for changes around the country, THEY need to bear in mind that THIS part of the country is not the same as some of the More liberal run towns we are seeing on FOX news. The majority of the south has a different opinion on what they will set back and allow someone to take away from their towns, homes, schools, etc. And most stand ready, locked, cocked and ready to rock when they need to defend what they believe in.
There’s various towns in La and probably other states in the south that are not gonna just say, “oh, well if we affend you, by all means, we have to immediately change everything we have done forever”. THEY can start down in Anacoco next, they are the Indians, let’s see THEM try to get those folks to go along with radical Marxism, they may get taken on a tour around town, when you get ready to completely change whole towns and parishes lives and lifestyles, some times it will take more than a MSM media blitz.

Rebel flags have been banned from games for quite a while now. I’m surprised they still let the band play Dixie though. Probably won’t be much longer.
